Each music genre has it's own unique techniques, music theory stubs, and compositional structure, however every musician from every musical background needs to develop the same basic music skills. Once these skills are developed, such as rhythm, chording, etc, then musicians can focus on specific skill sets involved in each genre. It is recommended that no matter what your musical preference is, you at least experment with most of the genres on this list while focusing on one or two styles you enjoy the most.
